Gov. Nathan Deal is set to embark on a weeklong economic development mission to South Korea and Japan that includes meetings with Kia and Hyundai officials and tours of industrial plants and flashy showrooms.
The governor departs on Saturday to Seoul, South Korea’s capital, where he’ll visit a Hyundai Motor Studio and meet with executives from Kia, the auto giant that built a sprawling plant in west Georgia.
The delegation heads to Japan on Tuesday to meet with Kubota, the tractor firm that has several sites in Georgia. He also has visits planned with Yanmar, an engine manufacturer; Nichiha, a construction company with offices in Johns Creek; and YKK, a conglomerate with several metro Atlanta outposts. He departs Tokyo on June 10 for the return trip to Atlanta.
