Today’s edition of GPB’s “Political Rewind” began amid the breaking news of President Donald Trump’s tax overhaul – and some Republican angst over an increase in the federal deficit.
“Obviously, this is the largest tax cut proposed in 30 years. I think it fulfills the president’s pledge to do something like this,” said Heath Garrett, a confidante of U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson. “In order to pay for it though, they’re going to have to really change all these deductions, these tax credits, all the exemptions to get to these numbers.”
The gang also looks ahead to the National Rifle Association’s assembly in Atlanta this week — culminating with an appearance by Trump. If you couldn’t catch it live, click here to listen to it now:
Today’s panelists: Host Bill Nigut; the aforementioned Mr. Garrett; Greg Bluestein, one of your AJC Insiders; and Melita Easters, executive director of Georgia’s Win List.
