Judson Hill’s new mantra: ‘Take the Hill, Hill’

Judson Hill is running for Congress.

Former state Sen. Judson Hill unleashed a campy campaign slogan in his debut ad for Georgia’s 6th District: “Take the Hill, Hill.”

The 30-second spot began airing Wednesday and joins an increasingly crowded battle over the airwaves for the conservative-leaning suburban Atlanta area. The ad features a string of constituents, enthusiastically repeating the slogan as he travels the district.

“Do you know anything about this?” he asks his wife near the end of the ad.

“Nope,” she responds, taking a sip from a coffee mug with the mantra.

The ad was unveiled two days after Florida Sen. Marco Rubio announced his endorsement of the Marietta Republican. Rubio easily won the district, an establishment-friendly swath stretching from east Cobb to north DeKalb, in Georgia’s March 2016 presidential primary.

Hill was the first candidate to enter the race in November, shortly after Rep. Tom Price was tapped as Trump’s health secretary. He’s one of 11 Republicans – and 18 contenders overall – who will share the ballot in the April 18 special election. The top two vote-getters, regardless of party, square off in a June 20 runoff.

Donald Trump’s struggles in the Sixth– he barely edged Hillary Clinton – have given Democrats hopes they can flip the seat.

Each of the top contenders are spending big money trying to distinguish themselves with catchy ads in the race. We’ve also seen braying donkeys, harrumphing elephantsmuck shovelers and light-saber battlers.

And on Wednesday, ex-Johns Creek councilmember Bob Gray rolled out an ad featuring him in a swamp wielding a diesel-powered, industrial strength swamp-drainer.
