Donald Trump: Hillary Clinton doesn’t have the stamina to be president

The first presidential debate ended with a bang Monday when Republican nominee Donald Trump said Democratic rival Hillary Clinton does not have the “stamina” to be president.

“She doesn’t have the look. She doesn’t have the stamina,” Trump said in response to the night’s final question, which was about a previous comment he made that Clinton didn’t have the “look” to be president. “You have to be able to negotiate our trade deals. You have to negotiate with Japan, with Saudi Arabia … You have so many things you have to be able to do and I don’t believe Hillary has the stamina.”

Trump’s remarks gave Clinton an easy opportunity to hit the GOP nominee for past comments about women and discuss her record as secretary of state.

“As soon as he travels to 112 countries and negotiates a peace deal, a cease-fire, a release of dissidents, opening of new opportunities in nations around the world or even spends 11 hours testifying in front of a congressional committee he can talk to me about stamina,” said Clinton of Trump in remarks that won her cheers from the audience.

Trump was temporarily put on the defensive, acknowledging that “Hillary has experience.”

“But it’s bad experience,” he said, citing the Iran nuclear deal, which also garnered him applause. “This country cannot afford to have another four years of that kind of bad experience.”
