We know that state Sen. Vincent Fort hasn’t exactly endeared himself to Georgia’s Democratic establishment with his endorsement of Bernie Sanders, a fact that his supporters hope helps more than hurts if (when?) he announces a run for Atlanta mayor.
And we know that little-known Democrat Jeff Sadiq has emerged to challenge Fort, and that Sadiq faces an ethics claim alleging that he does not live in the south Atlanta Senate district and is therefore ineligible.
Now Fort, the No. 2 Democrat in the state Senate, is drawing a line between the two with a claim on Facebook that his support of Sanders is the “reason I had an opponent sign up at the last minute to run” in the May 24 primary.
“I will not be intimidated by the establishment,” he adds in the post.
He does not say in the post why he came to that conclusion, so in the fine tradition of Vaguebooking – the posting of intentionally vague status updates – we were obliged to ask him. And we were told the post speaks for itself.
