Middle school teacher who questioned Obama’s religion yanked from Dublin classroom

That Dublin middle school teacher who told her students that President Barack Obama wasn’t a Christian, and neither were the people who voted for him, has been pulled from the classroom.

13WMAZ provides the video above. The Macon Telegraph has an interesting tidbit at the end of this interview with Chuck Ledbetter, the local school superintendent:

“It is not the place of teachers to attempt to persuade students about religious or political beliefs,” Ledbetter said in the release. “In doing so, the teacher was wrong and that has been communicated to her.”

He also said system-wide training will be conducted on that policy.

When parents of a student sought a conference with [teacher Nancy] Perry to discuss her comments, her husband, school board member Bill Perry, was there. Ledbetter said in the release that should not have happened and apologized for Bill Perry’s action.
