Republican U.S. Senate hopeful David Perdue out-raised Democrat Michelle Nunn in the third quarter, which included his final sprint to a primary runoff victory and a flood of establishment money once he secured the nomination.

Perdue’s $4.82 million haul from July, August and September includes a $500,000 self-contribution during the runoff, bringing Perdue’s investment via loans and donations into his own campaign to more than $3.6 million.

Nunn raised $4.15 million in the same span. Neither campaign revealed how much it spent or the campaign’s cash on hand as of Sept. 30.

Perdue’s top donors had an opportunity to give an extra maximum $2,600 during the runoff period, but besting Nunn is no small feat given that she has been one of the Democrats’ top fundraisers nationally this cycle. The Perdue campaign pointed out that Nunn has gotten a boost from outside star power in her fundraising, though Perdue’s Washington fundraising trips have included a who’s who of party leaders.

Here’s what Perdue spokeswoman Megan Whittemore had to say:

“This surge of support shows that Georgians are united behind David Perdue and excited to elect him to the United States Senate. They are giving generously to the campaign because they know that David is the right person to grow our economy and tackle our debt crisis. Their continued support is a sign of David’s growing momentum in this race.

“David impressively outraised Michelle Nunn because his message of real change in Washington is resonating with Georgians. Michelle Nunn made it a campaign goal to ‘prioritize fundraising above all else’ with backing from liberal groups like EMILY’s List, Hollywood celebrities, and Michael Bloomberg. However, through the generous efforts of our contributors, grassroots supporters, and volunteers throughout the state, David Perdue will make sure that Barack Obama and Harry Reid do not have one more vote in the United States Senate.”
