Jack Kingston accuses David Perdue of consorting with terrorists. Or the French.

By Jim Galloway

Jack Kingston may be telling us that tomorrow’s GOP runoff against David Perdue, for the U.S. Senate seat of Saxby Chambliss, may be closer than we think.

Below is the partial flipside from a comparison mailer sent out by Kingston, accusing his Republican rival, David Perdue, of hobnobbing with terrorists. Or the French. One or the other:

french

The accusatory line is: “Investor in a French bank that did business with terrorists.” Take your pick as to which half of that sentence should scare you.

We told you about the situation earlier this month. The French bank BNP Paribas pleaded guilty to violating U.S. money laundering laws aimed at Iran, Sudan, and other hot spots. It will pay a $9 billion penalty.

Paribas’ market capitalization was listed at 70.5 billion euros in 2013. Perdue has between $100,000 and $250,000 invested in an Equity Index-Linked Note with BNP Paribas. Which pretty much tells us he probably wasn’t involved in the bank’s day-to-day operations.

Looks like this paper is rooting for Perdue, because as an amateur he will be easier to beat

#weknownathan wants another Perdue. He'll be just as good as the guy who started to run Georgia into the ground so Deal could finish the job.

I heard that Purdue has a black baby, just like John McCain; why isn't Fox News all over this?

Conservatives have said that liberals have been courting minorities and the academic elite.  They fail to mention that it was Reagan who let part of the neo-conservative base out of places like Milledgeville, and patronized the SAWB's (aka Golden Boys).

Sorry for the rant, but I read about Kingston-Perdue non-debate just after riding through AL and rural GA listening to so-called christian talk radio stations.

First Kingston says his armed services committee experience to be a US Senator is just short of staying at a Motel Six, and now he is pulling the Palin's "palling with terrorist" card?

I remember when conservatives called themselves "yellow dog democrats."  On their way to switching to the republican party, some already had rabies, some got bit and contracted rabies, some became road kill possums with rabies, and others pretended to have rabies (RINOs) just so they could live in the dog pound.

Ignorance knows no bounds when these ol' boys are coming down to the wire in a tight race.  Kingston will probably accuse Perdue of having a sister who's a thespian in New York.   Furthermore, if the majority of Congress voted the way Kingston brags about, the world would be drowning in a global depression with generational unemployment.  IMHO

I still have a problem with voting in the primary tomorrow............

I'm not sure which one will be easier for the Nunn Campaign to trounce.

Nothing new here folks keep it moving it's only the GOP circular firing squad.  One thing the right is good for is killing off and eating their own.  Gotta love it.

Considering that some conservative posters here think going to high school in a big city outside of the Deep South disqualifies that person from getting elected here, doing business with the French must be high treason.

What would Perdue do?  Doo-doo!

All Kingston and Perdue are doing is making voters more likely to vote for Michelle Nunn in November.

I had some AT&T stock and AT&T gave the NSA telephone records.  So, does that mean I'm responsible for the spying on Americans scandal?

It's politics. What do you expect? Are Perdue's hands any cleaner?

If Perdue sat on the board of directors, that would be one thing...but it's a stretch holding the customers accountable for actions they had no control over, or didn't even know about.

While I voted for Kingston in primary, Perdue and Kingston were both OK. I was debating which one to vote for tomorrow. It is disappointing to see some of Kingston's attacks on Perdue. Perdue looks like the more reasonable one now.

Kingston is desperate. Deal is desperate.

Maybe they should rename the repub party, The Desperate Party!

BNP Paribus is the world's fourth largest bank, with about 15 million customers. (David Perdue is one of them.) So all 15 million customers are somehow guilty of conspiring with terrorists?

Kingston is throwing everything he can think of to see what might stick.

Why don't you take your problem to our southwestern borders and ask any number of the thousands of illegal aliens presently streaming across our borders,  only 10% of which are children? I am sure they will appreciate your dilemma

@honested I know what you mean.

I'll be voting tomorrow, and I'll make my choice primarily on the candidate whom I would prefer among the two. I'm reluctant to vote for the one who I think would be easier for Nunn to beat, because, if she loses, I could never face myself for having helped my least favorite candidate along the path. I don't blame others for choosing based upon who they think would be easier to beat, but I just don't make that my first criteria.

However, if someone does want to vote tomorrow based upon who might be easier for Nunn to beat, I would advise him/her to think about the fundamentals, not the latest polls. Polls are a rough approximation of fickle voter sentiment, and they'll bounce up and down between now and November. But if you think hard about political realities, I think the answer would be obvious.

"...going to high school in a big city"

Don't you mean "elitist progressive" high school? Still chuckling over that one.

Not sure how you reconcile the screen name "A Moderate" with pulling a lever next to Kingston's name.

Care to explain?

@DavidFarrar   Why don't you take your problem to our southwestern borders and ask any number of the thousands of illegal aliens presently streaming across our borders,

Since the comment--and the article commented on--concern the topic of the Jawja senate race, one can only assume you mean the SW border tween FL and GA.

Relax Farrar, all those thousands of illegal aliens presently streaming across our borders, are Canadians who have been fishing in the Gulf.  They're just trying to get back home, and don't want to be accosted by Jawjans, asking advice on which of two empty suits should 'represent' us.

@DS @honested I voted for our next Senator Jack Kingston last week. I also voted for Mike Buck for Superintendent but I am afraid Richard Woods hard core sell (lie since that could only be done at the governors office and Deal wants to keep out current standards) that he can do away with common core may win the day in that race.

He actually condemned all high schools in Chicago, DC, NY, LA, SF, Boston and a few more but left out both Portlands, Seattle, Minneapolis. You know, places where high schoolers don't major in the Civil War.

@LookbeforeIleap   Every now and then, there is a comment that makes you say, "Damn! I wish i had thought of that."

Post that comment every time one of these WATB's whines about the AJC/ Political Insider "bias."  (or else I'll steal it, and claim I said it first.)

Well, tiny dog, again you appear to have made a terrible mistake.

Luckily, Georgian Voters will erase your error in November.
