We have our first possible 2016 presidential candidate endorsement in the Georgia Republican U.S. Senate primary: Rick Santorum is backing Karen Handel.

Santorum was runner-up to Mitt Romney in the 2012 Republican presidential nomination and openly talking about a repeat bid. The former Pennsylvania U.S. Senator finished third in Georgia, his 19.6 percent of the vote trailing Newt Gingrich and Romney. While presidential hopefuls past and present took sides in North Carolina, they have not so far in Georgia.

Here’s the full release:

Verona, PA – Former U.S. Senator, former Republican presidential candidate, chairman of Patriot Voices and author of Blue Collar Conservatives Rick Santorum announced today that Patriot Voices PAC has endorsed Karen Handel for U.S. Senate in Georgia.

Senator Santorum said, “I am pleased to announce our endorsement of Karen Handel for the U.S. Senate in Georgia.  She is a committed conservative who has an undisputed record of fighting for pro-life causes.   Karen will fight to repeal ObamaCare, cut spending and stop the heavy-handedness of the Obama Administration that is killing job creation in this country.”

“Karen was a fiscal hawk in county government, balancing the budget and cutting wasteful spending.  And as Secretary of State, Karen became known for her efforts to make her office more transparent, something desperately needed in Washington, DC.  Karen’s conservative views coupled with her ability to get things done will serve Georgia well in the U.S. Senate. I am pleased that Patriot Voices PAC is in her corner,” Santorum concluded.

I do hope the barbershop picture becomes a full-sized poster to evoke laughter for years to come.

Karen Handel's platform – No contraceptives, no abortions, no government child care, no welfare or food stamps, no unemployment insurance, no health care insurance and absolutely no free ride unless you are a rich, white privileged male or married to one but certainly not gay.

Karen didn't get my vote.  Whoever is elected as senator should represent the constituents who elected him/her.  With all the calls I've received from out-of-state politicians on her behalf, it's very clear that wouldn't happen with Karen.

With rick, the santorum's endorsement added to that of jan brewer, madame palin and erik erickson, handel has cornered the market on the clinically insane and perpetually angry.  The only hill left for her to climb is to persuade the bat guano crazies to forsake Herr Dr broun and come over to her asylum, where they can all spend their days obsessing over Obamacare, BENGHAZI!, the homosexual agenda and the coming apocalypse. It will be their version of Heaven, much more pleasing to them than 72 virgins could ever hope to be.

There must be a lot of money to be made by running for elected government positions. These leaches keep popping up everytime there is an election to be held.  Even if rejected by the voters, they wind up in some appointed government bureaucratic position or private foundation where they draw benefits and salary for basically making themselves look and feel important while doing nothing that makes government or foundation more efficient and effective.

I don't have a problem this election.  I'll just vote a blank ballot in the Democrat primary and then vote for whoever the Republicans nominate.  Here's why: I went to the candidate's website an asked specific questions about what they oppose and what they support.  Only Republicans responded with answers.  I also got responses from the Democrats but no answers; just requests for donations.  I wonder why my party won't tell me what they are for and against.

Once again, a conservative doesn't get patriotism.

Like Santorum, Handel and her ilk hate too many Americans to be considered patriots. She maybe a nationalist, but she is definitely no patriot.

Well that will sew it up for her, I mean Palin and Santorum who could asked for more than that!!!!!

And with this endorsement, Karen Handel has just lost the conservative libertarian vote.

If the Obama Administration has been "heavy-handed" and has been killing job creation, why hasn't Congress even drafted a logical jobs bill?

Karen Handel was a fiscal vulture using bait-and-switch tactics that did little to better Fulton County,  As a FV with the SOS, she did improve access business record but it took her 4 times as long as the Obamacare rollout, and increased the department budget by 30% in the process.

Karen should have had enough of her own "pro-life" stance, repealing Obamacare is a waste of time, and she is saying have the babies, but don't worry about the access to affordable healthcare.

The Ted Nugent endorsement must surely be on the way.

You have to give credit to her campaign manager, they are quadrupling down on the crazy vote.

@AuntieChrist

O if only the corral was really that small.

Of course this is probably the only election in the Country where a santorum endorsement would even be mentioned.

Not quite. There is still Michele "Birther" Bachmann, and Christine "I'm Not A Witch" O'Donnell.

@ndfirstsection   It certainly appears you are ripe for the repuppy party, given your and their proclivity for casting useless votes.  You are going to drive, ride, bicycle, or somehow get to a polling place, maybe waste ten + minutes standing in line, cast a blank ballot, then drive, ride whatever back home, all just to achieve the same effect as someone who just stayed home.

If you don't know what the Dems stand for by now, you need to pay better attention. Likewise for the repuppies and what they stand for.  Maybe a better question you can ask is, what have you accomplished?  Their senatorial candidates have something like 50 years combined as congressional reps, and not a single one of them can point to a piece of meaningful legislation they introduced or helped pass. handel had 3 years as SoS, then quit in order to lose to a man too corrupt for congress, before she went on to destroy Komen. perdue is a clone of the walton family, making his millions on the backs of minimum wage workers who receive no benefits while the workers need public assistance just to survive, even though they work 40+ hours weekly. The CEO's rake in tmillions while the workers rake in food stamps.

If you were paying attention, you would have noticed not a single repup has touted their accomplishments in their ads, they only attack each other, basically saying vote for me because I'm not nearly as bad as the rest of them.

Good for you for asking questions. I will be voting for Democrats because I do know what the Republicans are vehemently against and what they pretend to be for.

Conservative-Libertarian? There is an oxymoron if I have ever seen one.

And why has the private sector added 3 million jobs in the pasthma year?

DS

Not at all---people who want government to do as little as possible and keep its nose out of everyone's business. Lots of these types running around.

@Baumer_1 Which incidentally, is the same number of jobs (3 million) that bush added in 8 years, in a period when repuppies controlled congress for 6 of those years. Yep, those puppies know how to create jobs---in India, China, Pakistan, et al--just not in America.
