Your copy of the new Lakeside-Tucker map

By Jim Galloway

State Rep. Scott Holcomb, D-Atlanta, has done everyone in DeKalb County a favor by pushing out the above new map negotiated between supporters of the proposed cities of Lakeside and Tucker. Click on the image to enlarge.

The cityhood bills have been stopped, given that the above chartage was a surprise to lawmakers on Wednesday. But dead legislation has a history of Lazarus-like revivals – so pay attention.

Writes Holcomb:

Some constituents have asked whether Livsey Elementary is in the proposed city of Lakeside or Tucker.  Based on our reading of the map, the school would be in the proposed city of Tucker, across Livsey Road from the Livsey precinct.  Those who live in that precinct would be in the city of Lakeside, however.

The only city that makes sense out of all these is Briarcliff.  Lakeside is does not have a cohesive element to it now.  Its just a "we dont want 'those' people" without much thought to anything else.  Briarcliff and Tucker could co exist.  Also, since Tucker has no plans for its own police force, your 911 call at Northlake ITP will still go to Dekalb Co...which was one of the reasons for cityhood in the first place!

And still no one talks about the blatant land grab Tucker is making into the City of Stone Mountain (which has already begun the annexation process). Nothing like pandering to one group of constituents at the expense of another. Also, nothing like being duplicitous about land grabs. Here is the Census map of "Tucker". Sure looks like they are grabbing parts of Stone Mountain. http://georgia.hometownlocator.com/maps/boundary-map,mode,place,geoid,1377652.cfm

What would the racial makeup of these cities be?

I would have thought better of Representative Holcomb than to indulge in this dead-horse nonsense.

We can only hope the next legislature will concentrate on 'fixing what's broke' rather than pretending some magic can be attained by drawing new lines.

Ignore the pink and beige and just look as the boundaries as a whole... looks like a sensible city to me... heaven forbid a bunch of grown adults that graduated from rival high schools 40 years ago actually get along and come together to form one large city for the betterment of our community as a whole.

Rep. Greg Morris a Follower of the Angel Of Light, has called for Drug Testing of the POOR & NEEDY of Georgia in order to get assistance from the STATE. His most DASTARDLY REQUIREMENT is that those in NEED MUST PAY for The DRUG TESTING whether they Pass or NOT.
I say we NEED to TEACH this State Legislator a VERY IMPORTANT LESSON in ECONOMICS.
The Poor and Needy of Georgia and ALL Welfare, Food Stamp, Medicaid Recipients and interested supporters should "NOW" start BOYCOTTING "VIDIALIA ONIONS". This BOYCOTT any and all Products that come from the CITY of VIDIALIA Georgia. One of the fastest ways we can show this support is to STOP BUYING those delicious "VARSITY" Fried ONION RINGS.
In short order This worker Of INIQUITY will see the error of his WAYS.

In Jesus's Name We ALL Pray....AMEN
